V-AMP Pro connections confusion!
Hey, I'm planning to buy one of those V-AMP Pro rackmount units for home practice / recording / bedroom shredding... I'm a little confused by the manual I just downloaded and what this unit is able to do. I don't have a guitar amp at home, so I was wondering about connecting it up to my PC and then my hifi. My hifi system is very decent, I'm not using any crappy speakers or amplification, btw. Can someone who's familiar with the V-AMP let me know if this will work:
Guitar (of course!)
---> V-AMP Pro using speaker simulator, effects, S/PDIF output
---> Minidisc recorder 1 coaxial input -- converted to analog RCA output
---> PC sound card stereo mini-jack input
---> Sound card optical digital ouput
---> Minidisc recorder 2 optical input -- converted to analog RCA output
---> Hifi amp & speakers
I don't have a digital input on my sound card, only a digital out. The card is an Auzentech HDA X-Plosion 7.1. A very nice card, but I really wish it did have a digital in. Now, going on what the manual is saying, it looks like I can't make use of all the V-AMP's functions using the analog outs. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know, the manual isn't too good. But by using my MD recorders and their digital ins and converting the signal to analog, maybe I have figured a way around it? Maybe I have gotten this completely mixed up??!! It's very early in the AM and I haven't slept for 2 days.
Sorry if this seems confusing. I don't have the unit yet so I'm not sure what it can do. Help is appreciated!
