Velcro "carpet"?

Has anyone seen or know of a store/vendor that has the velcro loop material in bulk? I've seen the 3/4" and 2" strips, which are OK......but I've gotta build a new larger board now and I'd like to completely cover a 10" x 48" board in the stuff. I've looked at a few local hobby/craft stores but so far no luck. I've seen pre-fab boards with it so it has to be out there somewhere....................thanks!

Re: Velcro "carpet"?

My friend used that regular cheap carpet and it worked well. I believe you can dye it black. Its the grey kind that has a few strands of various colors in it and is weaved ito tiny squrares. They sell it at Home depot

Re: Velcro "carpet"?

I used a $2.99 floor mat. It was a really tight loop, and worked perfectly. Most loop carpets work fine. Velcro action is all about the hook, if you know what I mean. If you've got the hook, the loop can be almost anything.

That's exactly the same thing I did, and it worked great. Saves alot of bucks, too. I modelled my board after the Tonebone Boneyard, and I love it. Given the size, I carry it in a keyboard gigbag. The bag also holds two of my guitar cases, while I'm onstage, as a way of keeping things tidy and accounted for.

Re: Velcro "carpet"?

Hmm... a 12"x 60" section is only $26.50 from Stompin' Ground, including shipping to MD. The loop carpet on my 2 level board works just fine. Carpet stair treads are fine for smaller boards as well. Save $20 and go down to Home Depot for a look around. Spend the extra $20 on a couple nice DiMarzio cable connectors instead.
