VHT Ultralead Anyone ?

Hi there,

I have just bought a used VHT Ultralead (with EQ) and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice and maybe some favourite settings etc. It is in new condition but there is no manual so it would be nice to find out from someone who has had some experience with them. I am running it through a VHT 2x12 cabinet and using a 7VWH and to be honest haven't spent much time with it yet.

Any advice would be much apprecaited and I would be interested in finding out what others might think of these amps.

Cheers

Eddie

Oh man, that's a nice amp. Those VHTs are ruthless!

I don't have one so I can't help you out with the settings, I'll just say mess around with it! That's what I did when I borrowed a Pittbull from a friend of mine... that was fun!

And those cabs, I think VHT makes very good ones. By the way, could you post the dimensions of the 2x12 cab, and some other info? Does it have a velcro fastened grille, like the 1x12? Port sizes? I've got a VHT 1x12 which is great, and I'd like to get a 2x12 but I'm short of cash now, so I think I'll try to build a replica...

2x12 Dimensions

Mr Orange,

I have the dimensions in work with me because I am going to order a Flightcase for the head & Cab (Top Hat style) & then I can rest the cab off the floor onto the flightcase

They are :-) Height = 42.5 (including 2m for rubber feet)
Width = 76
Depth = 36

I didn't even know that the cab was ported and haven't had a chance to take the front off yet. I wish that I could build cabinets as I think it would be a good idea to have a "2x12 Angled cab" to place on top of the Fatbottom Cab. 2x12's are so much easier to move around than 4x12's.

Thanks, mate!

If you can check out the size of the ports(if it's a closed back), they're usually on the speaker baffle, I'd really appreciate the info. Oh the material as well, I guess it's 15mm plywood?

When it comes to building guitar speaker boxes, it's not that hard; all you need is some info, patience and basic woodworking skills. I've built a couple 2x12s, a friend has the other and he's selling his Marshall 4x12 because he like the box I made better . Now I'm in the process of making a copy of the VHT 1x12 so I can load them with 16 ohm speakers and use them in parallel as a pair.

www.celestion.com has good info, as does http://www.duncanamps.com/technical/speaker_cab.html.
