vox ac30 -U2-the edge tone.

i play anything from herbie han**** style jazz, to steve vai like (i wish) shredding. i want tone simelar to the edge/jonny buckland/radiohead guitarist(s). i was thinking of either a vox ac30 or a fender de-ville 2 by 12.
both are tube amps and both cost about 700-800. does anybody have any suggestions? i know the edge uses the vox, and jonny buckland uses the fender so its a 50/50 (dont know about radiohead's). is one more versitile/reliable/better value than the other? any comments would be really helpful, ive finally saved up enough money (took me the better part of two years) and dont want to make the wrong decision.
thanks
tom

I'd personally go with the Vox - they're extremely nice amps. Much more in terms of raw tonality than the Fender (at least judging from the examples of each that I've played).

Thats a tough call...the ac30 is a beaut..amazing cleans, but you'll want to get a nice overdrive pedal as well as a reverb pedal to go with it, and you really have to turn up the volume to get the sweet tone from it.
The deville is a personal favorite...its clean isn't quite as nice as the vox (but comparable), but I think its a little more versatile as you'll get a nice reverb and an ok overdrive built in.
Johnny Greenwood uses a fender too..not a deville, but i think a twin..so if you're looking for radiohead tone the fender might be for you. check out www.guitargeek.com
You'll have to play each of them though and see which one you like.
