What price range is that? You don't state a price and I don't know off-hand how much the Vox sells for.

um for metal voX SUCKS ASS. I mean it sucks so much for metal, I just UG I HATE THIS AMP (for metal) but if u must have it, buy a mt 2 boss dist pedal, and the amp will sound fine.

Re: vox valvetronix

i have an AD30VT, and it rocks! not good for metal, but good for anything else, especially jazz, and blues, and anything else you can think of. the modeling is very accurate. Mine was $240 USD. i think the 50 watt is 360. i say go ahead.

Re: vox valvetronix

Buy the VOX! I have owned my VOX AD50VT for over a year now and have had no problems getting the sound I want out of it. It's great for jazz, blues, heavy rock/80's & 90's metal, but it won't give that really heavy nu-metal sound. It's great for playing Satch, Vai, and Malmsteen covers!

Re: vox valvetronix

If you can swing ~ $650, check out the Laney LC50 II combo. 2 EL34s will dish out all the metal you need. Back off the gain and highs and it gets very smooth and jazzy. An OD and a Phase 90 in front and a delay, flanger and chorus in the FX loop can be added if desired. With the components listed, you can have a tube powered, pro sounding rig for about a grand; less if you already own a few pedals.

YMMV.

Re: vox valvetronix

The vox is a great versatile amp, especially for the money. As for metal my valvetronix does fine with that. Don't know what your problem is? If there isn't enough gain for just throw a ts-808 in front of it.

BTW...here is a kewl site with a bunch of presets....http://www.valvetronix.net

and another usefull site.....http://duhvoodooman.com/AD30VT/

Re: vox valvetronix

well i went round all the local shops and couldnt find anything that i liked even close to as much! the US higain sound is a really good tone for my sort of metal sounds (i dont like the whole modern metal sort of distortion anyway) and it dishes out some pretty beautiful clean tones, especially with some subtle chorus and delay. if i ever changed my mind about the metal tone then i have a Boss DS-2 that i can stick in front of it and see how that goes!

Re: vox valvetronix

I have a ToneLab, and I think it does metal OK, just not a lot of choices there. I think it does clean & crunch GREAT.

totally disagree , you throw an overdrive or ds-1 in front of one and you get some good metal sounding stuff .

i think the vox ad line is great for the money .
