Warning: noob using Audacity

So I started playing around with Audacity and ran into an issue. I try recording using mp3 backing tracks but the backing track and guitar track are not in sync. When I record I'm right on time with the backing track. When I play it back, the guitar track I'm recording starts a split second after the backing track so it sounds off. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here. Is this just me being a noob at recording because I always thought I had great timing.

Why not going to an Audacity forum?
I bet you'll get faster and better "right on the target" answers there

Re: Warning: noob using Audacity

Probably a latency issue.
Switch to Reaper anyway--much better program!

Exactly that! I'll give Reaper a try while I'm at it.
