The 1936 has Celestion G12M-75s, the speakers that give Celestion a bad name. Put in some V30s, Classic Leads or JSX speakers and be amazed! I replaced the same speakers wth Classic Leads and I can tell you I will never play my straight cabinet again, which still has G12M-75s due to the cost factor.

That's really good to hear!

I'm in a dilema, as I said my mate also has the JSX head and a XXX Peavey Cab (4x12).

The XXX cab has Peavey's own XXX speakers in it, but it sounds MUCH better than my 1936, I just find the 1936 so so harsh and it's impossible to get a nice smooth lead out of it.

I want to buy a XXX cab or the proper JSX cab but they're £499 ( $868 ) and £550 ( $957 ) respectively which is a lot of money.

Do you think any other cabinet with vintage 30s in would be a good improvement over my stock 1936 Marshall?

I'm in a dilema as there aren't many guitar shops with decent cabinet stock in near to me, I'd love to take my JSX to a shop with a range of cabs and try each one out but I can't for the reason mentioned

What do you think? Thanks

Re: What amp/amps have you got?

DUAL TERROR............................. Full Stop!

i have owned and played ALL the TOP amps........................

Crank one of these on 7 watts - not 15 or 30 - just 7 and they ROCK....... BIG TIME!!!

Our bands other guitarist sold his Marshall DSL50........... and bought one too!

you still get the usual - "huh! 7 watts....." at gigs, but these ROCK

i've had Marshalls, Boogies, Engle's, laney's, Dr Z, 5150's, JSX's etc etc etc

and i play these!

Re: What amp/amps have you got?

My go to amp is a Yamaha T-50 modded and designed my Mike Soldano played through a George Lynch Genz Benz 2X12 cabinet.
My other amps are; 1983 Marshall 2203 Head played through a Splawn 4X12, Carvin Legacy combo, Laney VC50 combo, Fender Supersonic 1X12 combo, and last is a Krank Rev-1 head.

Looking to get a Mesa Electrodyne combo and a Marshall Vintage Modern combo when I have a few extra bucks.

Re: What amp/amps have you got?

Some sick rigs!
I have a couple toys, but nothing as serious as some of you boys.
I just sold my Triaxis rig to get the Mark V, but I also have 2 other lil gems.

From Smallest to biggest:
60's era Gibson Skylark Class "A"

1987 Mesa Boogie Studio 22:
This is identical to mine, I don't think I actually have any images of mine right now... need to fix that.

And now, my crown jewel:
The Mesa Boogie Mark V:

True love:
