Mark IIC+'s and Dual Rectifier's if I remember correctly (at least on LTE 2). His tone on Acid Rain is incredible, in my opinion.

Um... They show his rack on the inside of the liner notes in LTE 2. You can pull it out yourself, or if you're lazy, here's what I can make out, near as I can tell, in descending order:

-Furman Power conditioner
-Mesa Formula Pre
-Mesa Triaxis
-Something with a mesa stamp on it that may just be a spacer
-Lexicon processor of sorts
-Eventide GTR 4000 Ultra Harmonizer
-can't make this one out, but it says "rack" in big writing in the corner
-Stereo Simul-class 2:90

All of which housed in what looks rather like a Mesa rackmount case. Safe bet, anyway, as he's an endorser.

There's also obviously a whammy pedal in line on the Acid Rain solo, unless you can do that on the UH- never used one. It's a very satriani-esq lead, incidentally...

"Liquid Dreams" Petrucci says was entirely Pro Tools generated, also- it's possible some other stuff on this disc was, too.

All of which you could have worked out on your own had you bothered to take a peek at some of the pictures in those liner notes... Also, i'm sure this might come as a bit of a shock, but there's one or two other guitarists out there other than Petrucci who have done some pretty cool work...

You know, just listening back to LTE 2 (still haven't gotten around to buying 1- someday...), this stuff is so much better than Dream Theater. Great album.

I think the 2 albums sound really different.

I like the first one better though!
too bad they won't make a 3rd one.

Drew is totally correct, John used a quite downsized rig on the LTE albums. I guess downsized is only by John's standards, most of us bedroom/semi professional players have way lesser rigs.
