I was 14, sold the Apple IIc my estranged father gave me as a B-day present(he won it in a raffle), for $200.

Bought a Harmony wanna-bee Jackson Dinky in grey (had an H-S pickup config, with a push-pull pot for neck or bridge), a little battery or AC powered Harmony amp(think it was 5 watts, no distortion), from a local store. Then I took the $30 I had left into the "Sears Outlet" up the street and got a Cort Distortion/chorus/delay pedal that was an out-of-box return.

Had that rig for a little more than a year, and never learned to play anything on it, just strummed out-of-tune chords with high gain.

Course, when I turned 15 I used all my x-mas $$ to buy my first Ibanez, a used PL1660 in black for $300. Then I needed to learn how to play, because that guitar was "too expensive to just goof off on". :P

I was 8 years old I got an Encore Strat with 1 humbucker and this amazingly cool custom spray painted graphic on the back.. it was 2nd hand, and I played it through a 10 watt solidstate practice amp that had a hole in the speaker cone.. hehe.

I was 16 and living in Spangdahlem US Air Base, Germany at the time and got a Winner brand name strat copy and shortly after bought a Gorilla amp from somewhere in the states.

That guitar saw some abuse and Frankenstein type modding but held together for 3 years until the big upgrade came.

Fond memories...

I was 13. The guitar was a Reno Les Paul. And the amp was/is still A Marshall jcm 2000 tsl 601.

I still use that Reno today, I've fitted it with a EMG 81 at the bridge. Its sounds nice, and its so sweet to play. Its actually the guitar I use most today (even I have a 7dbk and a telecaster). It costed about 280 or something.

see the guitar on top left? that was my first dad bought it for me (together with a zoom 505II) when i was 14 because around a month after that i had a gig at school.. it's a cheap korean made which was about $50 back then :P it had single coils that time.. now it's so heavily modified hahaha.. somehow it looks like a racing car now :P installed evos, did a lot of spray can paintjobs.. it's a fun guitar.. ahhaha.. went through a lot with me, i love that guitar.. the only problem is that it doesn't stay in tune even after i installed grover tuners on it

the amp in that pic was my first amp and still my current a carvin sx-200d, bought it for 200 bucks shipped really loud amp, and i love the clean channel..

PS: oh, this is what it looked like originally :P

Blue Dean Z Jammer and a tiny Gorrila amp...

I traded the Dean in about two weeks later and bought a Charvel Model 2 and Pro Co Rat pedal.

Oh the horrible sounds I made.... Was around the age of 13

My first guitar was a Washburn electric. All things considered, it was a pretty good starter axe. Dark cherry sparkle, 2 humbuckers, Kahler locking trem. I made the mistake of selling it to buy a really crummy Hamer Slammer with a Floyd.

My first amp was a Crate mini-stack. It had 2 channels, reverb, and stereo chorus. It was a real mini-stack, too... a small amp head with 2 cabinets (each of which had four 5.5" speakers, I believe). It was kind of a pain, actually, since it required hauling a head & 2 cabs everywhere for not much volume or tone.
