Who can repair DC jack on Boss pedals?

Hi again

I believe my DC jack is faulty on my Boss GE7 after discovering my diag powerstation would not power it up.

Pretty certain this is the dc jack at fault and not the diago.

Is this a simple fix, and where/who etc can fix it?
DIY job?

Cheers

Matt

Open up the bottom of the case and have a look. Some of the Boss pedals DC jacks are loose and connect to the PCB by wires. One or more may have a broken connection. You can just solder them back on and you should be right to go.

If it's a surface mounted jack it might be a little harder to tell. If it's an obvious break on the solders then you can probably solder it back too.

Thanks for that
I had a look inside but it all looks fine
This is a mystery - the diago will power almost any pedal and definately the ge7

Have you got a multimeter with a continuity meter? Check all the connections if you know how to and make sure they are all connecting ok. If there is one or more that aren't then you may need to do some re-soldering or replacing of components.

Specifically check the ones around the the DC jack first.

Re: Who can repair DC jack on Boss pedals?

Hi thanks for the help - it turns out I was being a bit ignorant

My pedal is an old made in Japan model, and requires the ACA adapter.
So basically the pedal is fine, and also worth more than I paid for it so I believe!

Might be worth more to a collector but the early Jap GE-7 are very noisy, hence the 'sniper mod' and many others.

Had the same problem and turned out to be the cable from the power supply, not the jack on the pedal, just a thought. However, if it is the jack, the replacement is a pretty easy repair if you have some soldering/pedal mod or repair experience.

Yeah, the old MIJ models need a 12 V adapter because they have a voltage dropping diode. It can be modded to run on 9V or you can just pick up a new model. I'll look and see if I can find a schematic for one.
