Anyone Tired These Dimarzios In These Axes

An X2N in a Basswood RG? I know they sound sweet in Mahogany guitars like Gibsons but how do they sound in a RG?

How about a Breed in a Alder or Ash Strat? How did it sound?

I'm thinking of taking the Breed from my RG and putting it in my G&L. Then, putting a X2N in the RG Bridge on both of course. I want a really tight prog tone on the RG and rippin leads.

I have an X2N in my RG550, and I'm not too fond of it. It lacks bottom end in this guitar, so all you get are gnarly mids and highs. It's coming out soon and being replace with either a PAF Pro or an Air Zone.

Oh you meant to type "tried". You could experiment with those pickups but they're recommended for each wood type for a reason. Of course, you could stumble upon something sweet. I'd say go ahead. I like the combination of Breed/Blue Velvet/Air Norton on my basswood RG, lot of different sounds, and I personally (attempt) to play Progressive-type stuff.

Based on the sound you're going for IMO, the Super 3 is where it's at.
