Bill lawrence in basswood RG770

Hi i have a basswood RG770 (yes, the purple/violet one). While the stock bridge pickup is quite good (F2), i need something a bit hotter and clearer. I love the Bill Lawrence xl500 in my other guitar (mahogany), but am wondering if the basswood might be lacking mids (the F2 has a lot of lowmids) and a transparent xl500 might make it a bit thin and toneless.
Anyone have this pup in a basswood guitar ?

Thanx

yes, i used the XL500 for years in a basswood Charvel. it sounds fantastic in basswood, very crisp and rich, plenty of highs and lows but still very solid mids. it will almost certainly have less mids than in your other mahogany guitar, but i found it to be the best 6-string pickup for basswood guitars and a sizzly, crunchy metal tone.
