Changing PAF PRO with THE BREED

Hi there !

I've got a JEM77FP (with the "standard" PAF PRO) ... it sounds good, but I would like more output "power" and I read a lot about DiMarzio "The Breed".

In all the reviews I read, the verdict is very positive for these pickup ... I'm thinking to exchange even the bridge pickup, even the neck one with a couple of "The Breed" ...

... I'll trow away my money ???

Can be an interesting experiment ?

Let me know ...

Re: Changing PAF PRO with THE BREED

My opinion? I'd do it. I've got a JEM7DBK with Breed pickups (obviously) and they are simply great. Best sounding pickups out of all that I own (Dimarzio Super Distortion, FRED, older XH series, Johnson EMG, standard strat, noiseless strat, and PRS Dragon bass and treble). Never heard the PAF's in a JEM though, but I still think it would be worth a try.

Thanks for your opinion !

I read a lot about The Breed, and everyone told me the same thing: "The Breed sound great" ...

I think I'll order them very soon (obviously in "pink") ...

Try the Breeds. In my opinion, PAF Pros are so anemic in the bridge position. In the neck, they are acceptable.

This is pretty much what your FP will sound like with Breeds...

Not that you can't hear the Breed on some of the Ultra Zone stuff....but this is what it sounds like when us mere mortals play with it

Kenny,

Where do you buy your pickups? At GC?

Re: Changing PAF PRO with THE BREED

i have bought many pickups in my day. Some at GC, some at Ash, some on **** (that's where the Breeds came from), but most recently (when **** fails) i buy from Brian at universaljems.com.

The orders take 2-3 weeks, as they have to go from DiMarzio to Brian to me (their policy, not his), but I know the order is going to be correct. I don't trust retail music store dickweeds to not screw my orders up. brian's prices are better than regular retail shops and he's a friend to Jemsite. oh...and i don't think i pay tax to him either.

PS: I hope you're not amking fun of me and i don't realize it. :-/

No, Im not making fun. I was wondering if that GC in Queens would be a good place to buy some F-spaced Breeds.

Re: Changing PAF PRO with THE BREED

ahhhh...didn't know you were local.

I doubt they have them in stock. I'd call first.
I have an RG550 for sale that's already got breeds and a red velvet in it if you'd be interested in buying one pre-wired.
