Choice of 7 string pickups

Hey all,

I am going to buy a Mayones Regius 7 Dirty Green, but I am in doubt. Will the Seymour Duncan JB lack output for my kind of music, which is metal and beyond, mostly doom and death metal. Or should I just plainly go for Blackouts?

I have informed whether they can be fitted with DiMarzio D-Activators, but I still don't have a response, so if there is no way to get pickups outside of the preset options, should I go for the Blackouts or can I go with the organic tone of the passives?

Re: Choice of 7 string pickups

I have an SD Invader in my 7 string and it`s pretty bad ass. I use a D-Activator in the neck position and stock Blaze for the single coil. I have the Invader in two guitars and I find it to be pretty hot and chnky, better results if it is lowered a bit, too close to the strings it loses definition and string clarity but is still just as hot when lowered into the pickup cavity.

Thanks for the info, but if I'm able to I will get it with D-Activators. If that's not possible because it's not in the range of options, I want to know whether the JB will be high enough output or I should really go for Blackouts. The Invader is not in the available options, and to be honest, I don't like the sound of them other than Nile.

Ok cool! Got it!

Kind of agrre about the Invaders too, that`s why I said they are better set down a bit deeper in the cavity, but it doesn`t matter, this isn`t the case. My bad for not really understanding.

If I would go for a high output Seymour Duncan pickup, it'd be an SH-6 Distortion, I like the sound it gives, it lies close to a Bare Knuckle Aftermath

Have you played DActivators? They're not what I would call organic - very bright, a bit compressed... They're hot, but they're VERY reminiscent of EMGs.

I have played them, but they still sound better than EMGs. But should I go for the Blackouts?
