can anyone explain the function of the lugs that are on volume, tone and push/pull control knobs?? How do you know which lug to connect a wire to, or to use?
And on push/pull pots........what are jumpers?? And when do you want to use a jumper?


I notice in the Js1000 wire diagram found at ibanez.com........it shows the neck pickup as a "reversed" type. What is the difference between this and a normal Dimarzio that you would buy from a store?

And what effect does this have on the tone of a pickup??

I'm just starting to mess with pickup and wiring them.........so i'm still novice. Any advice would help. Thanks in advance

The middle lug is connected to a wiper that is turned when you turn the pot knob. It sweeps from one side to the other. When it is turned all the way to the left (counterclockwise), there is a very small resistance from the middle lug to the left lug AND a lot of resistance between the middle lug and the right lug. The opposite is true when you sweep it to the right.

Jumpers refer to short wires that connect two points, usually on the same connector or switch. A jumper wire would be across 2 posts on a switch in your case. A jumper is no different than any other wire connecting two points.

Reversed pickups have the magnet direction reversed. They do this so that when you have 2 pickups in parallel, they cancel noise like a humbucker. Reversing the pickup has no effect on the tone.
