Did I wire pickups out of phase?

Sorry if this thread becomes a huge confusing mess, but I need to ask.

I flipped the neck pickup around in the above picture so that it is physically oriented like the bridge pickup. (Is there also a small mistake in that picture since the wiring out of the pickup should be coming from the upper left corner?). Should I have considered my south start wire (green one) as a south finish wire (white one) in order to avoid phase cancellation when the 2nd position of the switch is I used? Not sure if you can understand, but I think there is something going on since that position sounds very thin. There are no loose connections or anything like that I think. Every other position is fine. The correct coils are in use in every position. I tested that.

Please do not advice me to flip the pickup around. I want to understand the connections here.

Edit: And I have also flipped south start (green) and north start earlier (red). Otherwise the wrong coils would have been used in switch position 2.

If it sounds thin you did wire it out of phase. Why did you wire it differently than the diagram? The way you explained this definitely makes it confusing to understand. Please explain your original intent of doing it the way you did it.

After reading your post a few times... I think I may understand what you are trying to explain. You never explain exactly what position you are having trouble with, but I think it's the 4th position. If so, then the issue is only with the neck pickup. The red and green wire are interchangable to correct a phase problem. So if you simply swap them around you should solve your issue. I had a similar problem with a HSS wiring setup... And I had those 2 flipped the wrong way.

Re: Did I wire pickups out of phase?

The lever switch position I had problems is the one where one neck coil and the middle coil are used together.

I wasn't that tired today so I figured it out. In this pickup configuration the red and green are not interchangeable. It will change the coils that are used in this particular lever switch position. You actually have to swap them (red and green) around once to have the proper coils in use (but that leads to the problem I had).

In order to fix the problem a few more steps have to be taken... so today I swapped the neck pickup white and green around and also the black and red around. Now everything works properly.

I guess I could have just put them all in their proper places to begin with - I have a solderless system so it's not a big hassle.

Thanks for trying to figure this out. I appreciate it.
