Dimarzio area 58 & area 61

I've got an area 58 and an area 61 and thinking of putting them in my RG560. Wich humbucker do you think would be a good match in the bridge position? I'm thinking a low output vintage sounding humbucker. How about the Air classic humbucker?

I've got a '67 neck and '61 middle in my strat now with an AT1 in the bridge, and I'm very happy with it. You're on the right track, though - the Areas are quite a bit louder than you'd expect because of their low magnetic pull allowing them to be set fairly close to the strings, but a low-mid-output humbucker is definitely the way to go.

Re: Dimarzio area 58 & area 61

I just went through the same project last month with my RG560. I ended up replacing the stock V2 in the bridge with a Breed. The Breed turned out to be hotter than I thought it would be but I figured if i'm in the bridge i'm gonna be louder and distorted anyways???

Yes it's a nice humbucker. It has a very forgiven tone if you know what I mean.

My buddy had a PAF Pro in a H/S/S Strat for the longest and it sounded good. It also balanced with the singles very well. I remember it having nice high end, just the right right amount of mids and a nice grind. It was my original choice but I took a chance on the Breed which is much smoother and compressed, no regrets though.

I have another guitar, a Charvel So-Cal I'm gonna go more old school with. I'm torn between a set of 36th annivesary's or a PAF Pro in the neck and a Eddie Van Halen Frankenstein HB in the bridge. I'm not too worried about lack of low end as I tune that guitar to Eb and it sounds fat.
