Dimarzio Pickup shootout

I know I am looking at dimarzio pickups, and I have it determined to the following pickups. The body of the guitar is made out of mahogany. It is an esp MH417.

Neck pickup - Paf 7 or an air norton
Bridge pickup - Paf 7 or a blaze pickup

Let me know what any one thinks of these ideas. Also if you have any of these pickups you are parting ways with, let me know.

Have a great night,

Re: Dimarzio Pickup shootout

Thanks for the Blaze vote. That is were I was leaning as well.

Forgot probably most important information of all:

My top 3 guitar players for tone:

Steve Vai
Richie Kotzen
Warren Haynes

That should give you an idea of the tone I am seeking.

Thanks for your help in advance,

Have a great weekend,

Re: Dimarzio Pickup shootout

I have an Air Norton in my neck position of my mahogany Ibanez S470. I really like it, really warm and smooth. But i was looking for a pickup to really run the notes together, so when i do sweep picking on the neck pickup it sounds more like a flowing river instead of steps (if that makes any sense). It's not very good with note definition with chords.

So if you want a neck pickup to smooth out your leads, go the air norton. For articulate chords, definately go something else.

I haven't had any experience on the other pickups so i can't give you a good answer of comparison with those, but i hope my perspective has helped you in your decision.

Toodles, Julz.
