Dimarzio pickups.....

ok so im looking at getting some humbuckers each one black/yellow and i will get a centre single pickup in yellow also for my RG.... plan is to have the pickups from bridge to neck....

Yellow/Black - Yellow - Black/Yellow....

my question is...can the pickups be turned upside down to accomplish this or does that adversly affect them..... i want the colours to be on the outside of each humbucker, so wat do you fo if you get 2 humbuckers where the coloured side is on say the left of each one.....

Cheers

Re: Dimarzio pickups.....

You can turn them around if you want. If the pickup has mismatched coils you might find you get a slightly different tone. If the coils are matching then there should be next to no difference. DiMarzio has info in their FAQs for this.

Re: Dimarzio pickups.....

Just look at the pole pieces.
If both rows look the same, they can be flipped.

Re: Dimarzio pickups.....

You can flip them regardless. Pole-pieces aren't going to stop you from flipping them.

You aren't really going to "screw" the sound. There will be a slight difference if the pickup has mis-matched coils. Next to nothing with matched coils. You may not even notice the difference at all!

Re: Dimarzio pickups.....

It will change the tone.
If it didn't why would they make two different types of coils on one pickup?

Re: Dimarzio pickups.....

Thats why pickups are also made as 4 conductor now. You can flip whatever you want and just reverse your wiring. Since pickups are made a certain way and polarity, you just need to make sure you are using the correct wires. Or wire it up normally and your coils will just be backwards. Big deal. haha Have fun!
