SO! I'm the proud owner of a 2000 MIK RG320QS (mahogany body, QS= quilted sapele) and the guitar is awesome, superb construction and quality...except for the ugly, shrilly sounding Powersound pickups!
I want DiMarzios, will not take SB's or other makes! It's time to upgrade and I play a lot of Paul Gilbert, hard rock and love arraging classical music! Tone-wise, I am expecting a classic voiced pickup that has character and punch, not hotness or crunch-happy, but something in-your-face, good presence!
Before you suggest, I considered Tone Zone in the bridge, but this pickups scares the **** out of me!! I'm afraid I will go into extreme warmth/darkness hell!
Also, I contacted DiMarzio customer support via e-mail and said the new Gravity Storms could do the trick, but seeing how low they're EQed on treble, I'm scared as in the case of the Tone Zone!
Thanks in advance for your replies!
