DP155 into various RGs

For reasons I'm happy to go into, I've recently acquired 3 RGs -my first:

RG652KFG-KB [basswood DP155 bridge p-up]

RG1570 (beat-up Prestige) [basswood, trem, V8 bridge p-up]

RG421-MOL (new, Indonesia) [mahogany INF bridge p-up]

The 652 seems to have the best body-wood p-up combination, the 421 the worst. Not surprising, maybe, as this equates to the price.

I'm wondering if putting a DP155 on the 421 makes sense - in respect of making it sound more like the 562 ; or if the mahogany body is going to have an adverse impact ?

Anyone done this ? How did it turn out ?

I'm also thinking about putting a DP155 on the RG1570; but understand there might be mechanical issues - though people seem to have done this.

Re: DP155 into various RGs

i have put dimarzios in a 1570/570 without any issues. I have a 421 that i put a breed bridge and gravity storm neck in and it works out. Does seem a little mid heavy.

I have really grown to hate the tone zone, it is really 1 dimensional to me but each to their own. Chances are you'd probably find the 421 to be a little mid heavy, but it could round out pretty well with the chopped high end and fuller lows.

basswood is basswood, to me it doesn't offer a lot of tonal variation between bodies, but I have never been one to think that body wood contributed to tone in any excessive way at least in solid body guitars.

Cheers.

Any issues with the distance between pick-ups and strings ? [There's a page on the DiMarzio site where it shows a variation in the height of the various F-spaced pick-ups, and it seems it's actually the height of the coils, rather than the base, that varies. ]

Interesting comments on tone. Given that I like the DP155 [Tone Zone] in the RG652; I'd imagine I'd like one in the RG1570. The mahogany 421 may be more interesting.
