Emg Spc?

Hi there,
Has anyone used the EMG SPC (strat presence control) before?
http://www.emginc.com/displayproduct...&catalogid=131

How is it in terms of tone and noise? Is it like having a TS9 mid hump?

I was thinking of throwning that into my guitar (S520EX) since it requires very little routing and I think I can afford the space for the battery.

Cheerio!

Re: Emg Spc?

yup, i did a massive project with one of those.

it actually involved 3 passive units total.

all in one guitar...had to mix passives with the 81

the spc is a cool mod. its a mid boost. really good for fattening up single coils and making humbuckers more agressive. turned down is like it is off, wide open, it adds snarl to humbuckers and makes neck single coils sound like p90s. not great for clean tones, tho. if you want to go between cleans and dirty, you probably won't want to keep rolling the spc knob between settings. but a really cool mod for studio work or one setting rock.

Re: Emg Spc?

hmmm... thanks man...

I thought the 6dB boost would be too small to be noticable but well! Looks like its good!

Too bad I found out that I don't have any space in my S series for a battery.

Thanks anyway...

Cheerio!

I've seen people put the battery in the trem cavity. Situate your springs, so there's room in-between them. Put one on the high E side, two together on the Low E side- it should fit right in.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Stick a piece of velcro on the body and battery, to keep it from moving around.
