Evolution neck model into the bridge?

Hallo guys...anyone had any experiences with putting Evolution neck model in the bridge position?
I am thinking about this, since i have heard that evolution, the bridge model, when used without any distortion or drive, still produces some drive...is it true?! if so, i think that I don't want that, so would be the Evolution put into bridge be a better option?
i apologize if this was already a thread, but i failed to find it...

Re: Evolution neck model into the bridge?

If you're dealing with a floayd rose, a bridge pickup will be f-spaced while a neck model will not.

That being said, the Evo bridge pickup doesn't produce any drive at all. It's high-gain, but doesn't distort on its own.

good luck.

Re: Evolution neck model into the bridge?

So, the evolution bridge model doesn't produce drive on it's own? Nice to hear that, since i have heard the oposite...
Still, has anyone tryed putting Evolution neck in the bridge position...it has a less output than the bridge model..i don't know if it is a clever idea...that's why i am asking!
btw i have rg550ex, with v7 v8 stock pick ups, for now...

.. Install it and try yourself. It will take you no more than 5 minutes.

Then you decide if you want to remove it or leave it there.

Thumbs up Re: Evolution neck model into the bridge?

I have one in my Jackson FUsion Plus (poplar body, H/H and 5 pos switch) with a Air norton in the neck, its sounds awesome, very clean, sparkly and brigth and very good with distortion, i love the sound
its like a strat with balls, and no hum
works very well with the schaller floyd, try it and tell me!

Re: Evolution neck model into the bridge?

Thanks for the replies guys...
The thing is that i live in Serbia and MOntenegro, and i can not just take the one from the store, try it and return it...things are a bit more complicated in here! And since i have an opportunity to take an evolution neck, for a fair price, i started this thread, since i am going to upgrade my bridge pickup, cause i use it more...
Simonargento, what is the body of your guitar made of (i mean what is "poplar" body)?
in my rg550 its basswood...i am still not sure what to do...but thanks for your reply...can you tell me more about the harmonics...are they easy to produce and stuff...?

Re: Evolution neck model into the bridge?

A neck Evo is very much like a PAF-PRO, only louder. If you've heard a PAF-PRO in the bridge position this should give you a pretty good idea of what it will sound like (think Steve Vai during the David Lee Roth years)

The bridge Evo is MUCH louder, with a more pronounced mid-range. I think that's why some people think they overdrive even a clean amp, they really cut through and have a harsh sound to them, but no, they don't overdrive themselves, that's impossible.

For the hell of it, just now after reading your question, I put my neck Evo in the bridge and it's pretty nice. Gives a smooth distortion and a nice, bright clean sound, again, much like a PAF-PRO but with more power.

Harmonics jump right out, but that's true of either Evo pup.

Poplar is a type of wood, just as basswood is a type of wood.
