First Pickup Install- V7 & V8, A couple questions

I have a DTX-120 that I never jived with the pickups at all. A forumite over on HCAF (riffy) hooked me up with a couple of pickups, the Ibanez V7 & V8.

First issue I ran into:

Screw size. The holes in the V7 & V8 are larger than the screws in my DTX. They are larger than any of the screws I have sitting around in other pickups. (I have like 3 pickups sitting around that I haven't had the guts to put in, I'm trying to remedy that.)

Apparently not all pickups use the same size holding screws? Any suggestions on where to find some or just head to my local hardware store with the pickups and try and match something up?

Second issue:

Well, a question really. The pickups coming out of the DTX had 2 wires, a white wire to the switch and a semi covered black wire to the back of the pot that I assume is the ground.

The V7 & V8 have 3 wires, white, black, ground.

I'm 99% certain that white goes to the switch, black and ground go to back of the pot, but I just want to verify that.

Thanks!

Re: First Pickup Install- V7 & V8, A couple questions

Well, I've already learned something, this guitar does NOT have the original pickups in it.

Thanks to the info on the ibanez site, and looking at the handy chart Alaskabat provided, and google image searching what AH1/AH2 pickups look like....these are not them!

I'm not overly upset as I picked this up used for $90, but I wondered why the pickups sounded so bad and were so overpowering since the output of the AH1/2 isn't really all that high.

Thanks again AlaskaBat! Any suggestions about what to do with the screws? I haven't run across any info on those (though it easily could be buried in there, what a great resource!)

Your local music shop should have what you need. Failing that, just go to a hardware store with the pickup and search for something that fits. Can't remember the size of the screws sorry.

No problem! The hardware store is probably gonna be easiest for me and matching something up shouldn't be tough.

This taught me to get all my ducks in a row first though.
