Gravity Storm, anyone tried it?

I got a set today but have no time to install now, but got curios if any of you guys have tried it? If so, what do you think?

I don't like the evolution but love the breed, so I really look forward to try it.

For you how don't know what it is, it is a new Steve Vai pickup by DiMarzio.

Really? You missed that thread and didn't check the reviews section???
I posted a full write up, review, several sound clips and specs about a month ago.

Lone Phantom got his and posted his thoughts, too.

Seriously--do a Google search for DiMarzio Gravity Storm and you'll see everything I've posted on them.

Yeah, I did miss it.
Have been on tour for a long time and not been active here at all.

I will look for it. Thanks!

DiMarzio will go official about it next week.

Re: Gravity Storm, anyone tried it?

Found the AlaskaBat youtube clip.
Great playing, dude.

I believe you have recorded it with some kind of direct line gear?
It sounded very fuzzy and had a hard and unpleasant high end (in my humble opinion).
If using direct gear is it okay, they all sound like that.

It seem on spec to be pretty close to breed, I think it will be good.

But don't you think something like a set of 36th PAF, PAF Pro are more all round than high output pickups like these?

Thanks for sharing it.
I will see if I can record some video live when using it.

Hepp!

I need to learn about the search function one day...

Sorry about that, let's forget this tread.

Listen to the sound click tracks. I recorded with a cranked 100w head.

Pickups are just one factor in tone-don't forget that amps and pedals can get you a variety of different tones.

Re: Gravity Storm, anyone tried it?

This is just my Ibanez RG550 with the Gravity Storms and stock Ibanez single coil direct into my Marshall DSL50, mic'd up with a Shure SM57. Reverb and delay added in Studio One.
