HH with Five Way Switch

Hi guys,

I did search over the internet for this HH combination but without success.
Found approaching wiring diagrams but the third position was not good.

1 Bridge
2 //Bridge
3 //Bridge // //Neck
4 //Neck
5 Neck

Is the wiring possible with a DiMarzio EP1112 or an Ibanez VLX91 ?

Thank you.
(And sorry for my bad english)

EDIT
HERE IS THE WIRING

Re: HH with Five Way Switch

Thanks for searching but the third position is not what I want.
Looking closely at this wiring makes me wonder if that is doable with "only" four poles.

Re: HH with Five Way Switch

do a 3 way switch and have two push/pull pots. The two push/pull pots would give you the combo you want.

Re: HH with Five Way Switch

Yeah I know that but for this guitar I am searching for simplicity and speed...

Let me check with some of my pickup wiring genius buddies and see what we can come up with.

Re: HH with Five Way Switch

Thank you for your interest.

At the DiMarzio's site I found an approching diagram where the third position was the outer coils of each pickup in parallel.
I emailed them and they said it "should" be possible.

Re: HH with Five Way Switch

I don't think that's possible, you will need four hot slugs which are not connected to anything else in position 3. and you will also need two slugs for grounding, that will be six slugs for position 3. Sorry dude.

Re: HH with Five Way Switch

You're right Tony - I tried that wiring scheme with a 4-pole 5-way; ran into the roadblock of needing one more pole to accomplish it.

So you're right; there'd have to be another switch involved to get that combo.

Re: HH with Five Way Switch

Hello

what you seem to obtain is a wiring like the one below, which can be done with a standard 5-way switch.
Here are the combinations you will get:
1 bridge humbucker
2 bridge split (you can choose the coil by choosing the coils during the wiring)
3 the chosen coils of the bridge and neck (I guess I have the outer coils, i don't remember the way of installation)
4 neck split (you can choose the coil by choosing the coils during the wiring)
5 neck humbucker

I must say I found it, this is not a wiring I created, it already exists.

This wiring is great, I found it once on a website and copied it on a paper quickly. Since that time I couldn't find it anymore on the web.
Here it is again, but I'm sharing it.
This might be the wiring which DM was taling about.
Hope this helps.

Yes I think it will work. (not claiming to be an expert though)

Re: HH with Five Way Switch

I had just to think "you dont have two humbuckers, you have four coils"
;-)
