Humbucker wired as single coil

I have a H-S-H RG with Evo's in the neck and bridge, and True Velvet in the middle.
Is it possible to wire my neck pickup so that only one of the coils work, turning my guitar into a S-S-H?
I know the black & white wires are for coil-splitting.
What if I wire them to the switch in place of the red (hot) wire, and leave the red unconnected?
Or is there any other way?
I don't want to spend on a new pickup & S-S-H pickguard so if this could work I might experiment with it.
Hope the experts in guitar electronics can enlighten me on this.

If you solder your black and white wires to ground then it will split the coil. A lot of people do this with a push pull pot or a mini toggle switch. That way it can be turned on and off. Though when you do this, it's using half the humbucker, so the output will be lower aka not as loud.
