I need new pickups for my rg7620 (1998)...

Hi, I have 2 problems guys,

My RG7420 (year 2000) modded with 2 Blaze from a UV and an Edge pro 7 sounds better tahn my RG7620 (year 199.
On Ibanez Archive Catalog 1998, Ibanez wrote that the RG7620 sold in "Europe" got Dimarzio pickups. But the RG7620 sold in "US" got Real Dimarzio Blaze pickups. So was it a mistake or not ?
Do you think that my european RG7620 just got "simple" Dimarzio pickups or real Blaze one ????

My second question : i really love the Evo 2 bridge on my RG550. it sounds better ( for me of course ) than my Evo bridge on another RG550. More warmer, less agressive... I would like to find the right dimarzio 7 string pickup for my RG7620.
Which pickup for 7 string could sound like the Evo 2 ????
I mailed the Dimarzio tech and he answered me "D activator 7 could be the closest" . Are you agree with it ?

Thanks.

Manta.

Hey Manta, do you have pics of the back of your existing pups? that will tell us a lot.

You can't disagree with a DiMarzio tech....It's all they do all day long....LOL

I've heard great things about the DA-7.

Hi RGTFanatic,

I will take and post a pic tomorrow if it can help you (to help me). I remember that it was just written "Dimarzio Pickups Made in USA". And it was written the same on the Blaze I put on my RG7420. May be because they came from an original UV, I don't know ?

I ve heard the same about DA 7 but would it sound like the Evo 2 ?

They sound like blaze's, but pics would help.....looking forward to seeing them.

I wish I knew about the DA-7......sorry man, but I would trust the DiMarzio tech to know his business.

Re: I need new pickups for my rg7620 (1998)...

The Blaze reference is a misleading catalogue mistake. All RG7620s came with Dimarzios known as "New7s" or "Custom7s" (both the same pickup, made by Dimarzio specifically for Ibanez 7 string RGs).

Personally I love the New7 bridges for tight metal riffing and the neck for smooth, hot, clear tones although they work better in mahogany. I haven't tried the Evo2 so can't advise on a similar replacement. Good luck in your tone quest.

That's the best bridge pickup I've used so far. There's a sample for the Evolution 7 at www.dimarzio.com called Beyond This Life, it sounds exactly like the Evo 2. Besides, it's a great song!

Just a quick edit: I'm not saying you should try the Evo 7 just because it's supposed to be an Evolution model for 7-string guitars, but because every once in a while I listen to that song, and I DO hear similarities (at least 2) when compared to the Evo 2 as opposed to the original DP159.
