INF 2 as a neck pickup?

Has anyone tried this?

I'm asking b/c I own a RG 470 that's being rebuilt, and after exploring the mountains of available humneckers out there and trying out more than a few, I'm finding myself little better off than when I began digging.

I found the INF 1 that came stock to be serviceable but far from ideal with the new bridge pups I'm using for this and the 80's Kramer I'm also retooling. I'm wondering if the alnico would swallow the highs in the neck pos. and having the INF's on-hand, it'd be kind of silly not to try. A pickup in the body is worth 2 in the store....

What should I be listening for? I'm not a frequent neck-surfer so if it is a bad idea to begin with, I'd rather not waste the time.

Not sure what you're asking us. If you want to try it then go and try it. Everyone has different ears and tastes. If you like it then stick with it, if you don;t then try something else, pretty simple!

Re: INF 2 as a neck pickup?

Thanks LP, was hoping someone might have tried this before and if so, what results they might have had.

My hope (prayer) was that it would function as a neck pup with a good mid that would still be able to articulate individual note sounds within chords without going all clunky when overdriven or heavily distorted. Mainly as a setting for rhythm playing without the amount of "cut-through" an Evo or FRED provides.

I'm going to experiment regardless, however if someone else had tried this and it was a flaming turd, it would save me the time
