Installing Unknown pick ups

From the two single coil pick ups there are two wires from each, black and white. From my understanding I wire one to the volume pot, the other to the terminal of the selector switch.

The wire in the bottom left corner is my ground wire, which from what I understand goes to the volume pot as well.

Does it matter which wire is grounded and which goes to the selector switch? Also, how do I figure out what nodes to attach it to?

I was messing around and noticed when the selector switch is in the neck position, there were two different nodes that produced sound when in contact with a wire.

Mass reps for anyone who can help.

Re: Installing Unknown pick ups

The black is supposed to be the ground that goes to the volume pot.
probably doesnt matter but it might confuse someone later.

Many different selector switches, if you have a fairly standard fender type one probably one live lug is for the volume switch and the other live one can be used to wire up a tone pot,

IMHO you dont need tone pots because every amp, pedal and fx software already has too many of the useless annoying things but if you want one thats fair enough.

Why do you want to install unknown pickups ? my guess is they as average or cheap pickups someone has taken out of a guitar because they dont like them.

Also if you do like them you wont be able to describe them in glowing fruity verbosity to tone nerds.
