Issue with Tone of my Evo

Hi guys. I just picked up a new RG1570z. I pulled the old pups out and installed some evo's I had kickin around.
My issue is that on the high E as I progress up to the higher frets the notes are so pitchey. It sounds almost like as if my action were too low and it's creating a harmonic sound off the fret in front of the one your playing. But I raised the bridge up to a test that theory and it still had that really high pitchey dead sound comin off the string.

Im playing through a 5150 III with the treble dials at 12:00 and the presence at 10:00 so its not set trebley by any stretch.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Issue with Tone of my Evo

does adjusting your volume or tone controls do anything for the sound ? Do you still hear it with them at 7 or 8 (do one at a time)?

The pickup could be slightly microphonic. It happens sometimes, and i personally had it happen to me with an evo.

Re: Issue with Tone of my Evo

Low and behold... Was the patch on my Nova System I'd been using with my Wolfgang. I set up this patch a while back for some EVH stuff and it sounded great. However the articulate nature of the Evo seemed to bring out the flaw in how I had the delay and reverb set up. I remember tinkering with certain parameters, not noticing any differences with the wolfgang. But the Ibby was not so forgiving. Anyway problem solved! Thanks guys.
