Metal Pickup Covers

Hi all,

I bought a Les Paul copy which isn't bad for the price I paid. I am trying to figure out if I like the pickups. So far, no...

I'm now thinking of getting other pups. What I want to know is, how easy would it be to get those metal pickup covers on top of Dimarzios?

Thanks to all the gitar gods in da haus...

Re: Metal Pickup Covers

As long as the covers fit the pickups it should be easy. You might want to check the dimension of the covers to make sure your pickups will fit inside first (i.e. I'm not sure if f-spaced pickups will fit a standard cover).

The main thing you need to do though is pot the pickups once you've put the covers on - unpotted covered pickups squeal like pigs so you need to thoroughly wax pot them. There are good tutorials on the net on how to do this or any boutique winder will do it for you for a small fee, if you're worried about blowing up your kitchen.

Regards,

Dave

Re: Metal Pickup Covers

Thanks Dave, I will hold off on this idea and will just think about getting pre-potted pups. I don't want to go through the trouble of all that.

Cheers!
