Mo'Joe & Fred combo?

Got a Fred in the neck of one of my RG's and I absolutely love it.
I have a Tone Zone in the bridge, which is decent, but it would be cool to have a hotter version in the bridge as I absolutely love the overtones/harmonics & midrange of the Fred for soloing...

Soooo...

Has anybody on here tried a Mo'joe/Fred combo or a set o' Fred's?
If so what are your opinions?

I'm curious...

I already have an RGT w/ a TZ/AN combo so I'd like a slightly different tone with this one.

It's a basswood RG5EX1, the "special" musicians friend model...

Re: Mo'Joe & Fred combo?

Just keep in mind the TZ is much more powerful than a Fred, but the Fred is a great pickup, I used one for years..

Re: Mo'Joe & Fred combo?

Would the Mo'Joe have enough output to balance w/ the Fred neck?
Would 2 Fred's be similar to having a set of PAF PRO's?

Re: Mo'Joe & Fred combo?

yeah the Moe Joe should have enough power to balance with the Fred in the neck.

Yes having 2 Freds would be very similar to having a set of PAF Pro's.

So I tried the dual Freds and it sounds really good...
Is the Mo'Jo noticably louder and or gainier than the Fred or is it basically beating a dead horse at this point?

Having a bit more output/gain would be kind of a bonus, but if it's barely noticable I'm not gonna bother...

Any opinions ??

Re: Mo'Joe & Fred combo?

the mo joe has more output and is a bigger, meaner pickup, chris. i swapped a fred for a mo joe in a js1200 and made it a better axe.

Two Freds can be a pretty good setup.... definately worth trying if you like the Fred.

After trying a few different combo's I had settled on a PAF Pro in the neck & Fred at the bridge on my RG 520QS which was a very nice combination. However I recently swapped out the PAF Pro for a second Fred & love it. I keep the neck fred about 1/8" farther from the strings than I did with the PAF Pro & the balance is about perfect for me. This combo provides strong natural & artificial harmonics in all 5 switch positions in this guitar & is very responsive to different pickng attacks.
