Need Help With JEM70V Pick Ups
I am copying the thread from JEM in the hopes that I can get some ideas:
New member here. I have had my seafoam green green model for a couple months now. I do love the playability of the guitar but have a question on the pick ups.
I know the single coil pick up and switch positions will be a bit quieter than the humbuckers. However, the volume on position 2-3-4 seems to vary, going from normal volume and tone to very quiet on 2 & 4 and almost no sound at all on 3. Sometimes it works fine.
Is there something with the guitar I can look at? I get the same result on all three of my amp rigs, giving intermittent issues with sound quality.
I think it may be in the tone pot. Last night while rolling the tone back and forth it came back to normal for a short while but went away again.
Any help would be appreciated.
I also found a thread here that made me think about grounding and sure enough, the ground wire had come loose under the back cover. I re-soldered the wire to the same place but the problem still exist.
PS: I was just playing it and you could here an electrical hum, ever so slight, coming into the guitar and then it started playing fine for about a half hour. Then there was slight hum and faded out.
This happens only with this guitar on both my tube and solid state rigs, direct cable in no effects. HELP!
