Smile A New Dimarzio pickup is out!

Hey, this is new news to me, a new pickup by Dimarzio
The Dominion Bridge - It looks very similar to the Breed
It says it is supose to sound good coil tapped too
The neck model looks very close to a PAF Pro
I bet this set will sound good

Thanks for posting this!

The bridge model appears to be a ceramic version of the Breed indeed. I'll certainly buy the neck model.

Yes, a new pickup is out and apparently we are the only ones who care...

That's certainly not the case. In fact I'm pretty sure there may be some reviews for them coming soon...

That "Morton guy" is one of the guitarists from Lamb of God. Based on that alone, I'll probably pick a set of these up.

Re: A New Dimarzio pickup is out!

It's funny he is a thrash player and the pickup specs don't say, "Hay I'm a thrash pickup!".
They look like they have more uses than just thrash based on the specs.
I can use my Tone Zone for thrash if I set the rack up for it.
I think it is cool that it said it was intended to be coil tapped and sound good too.
I think most humbuckers are a crap shoot for coil tapping.
I'm amazed that a thrash player would use a pickup with so much mid.
He is cutting the mids down with his rig for sure.
Maybe that way he will still get really crazy pinch harmonics.

Re: A New Dimarzio pickup is out!

He's not your average metal player. He's basically a blues guitarist in a metal band. Also, his rig is just a compressor and a Mark IV. So these pickups were designed to run through that.

I know what you mean. I can't live with less than 375 mV in the bridge.

After 375, I start losing dynamic sensitivity, it just all comes out loud.
The warmth starts to fade away as well.

agreed...I don't like really high output pups for that reason...to me a JB is high output...anything more than that and I agree with you - it gets too loud...

I find the 375-404 range perfect (Evo 2 - Evolution). Beyond that point, it sounds "boosted".
