Old pickup find in a used guitar
I bought an old 550DY a month or so ago, to have a guitar I could screw around with. I was taking off the neck today to send up to Jeremy for a refret and new dots when I decided to take off the pickguard. The bridge pickup was an aftermarket something or other and she had stock pickups otherwise. When plugged in, the bridge was really bright and tight, so I thought it might be an Evo or something else nice to have. So, I get the guard off, and look under the pickguard and on the bottom of the bridge pickup there is a signature I can't make out. I look closer, and it says "Steve Morse" and Dimarzio, USA. An old Steve Morse model bridge pickup! I think that's pretty cool, it made my day. I wanted to do something different with the pickups on this guitar, and how different is that!?
