PAF Joe & Mo Joe Help

Hi folks - need some help trying to figure out the issue as I'm no electrician. I can solder and assemble however I can't diagnose electrical issues.

I wired up my JS1 with a new PAF Joe and Mo Joe pickups using the diagram below. Everything works fine, volume, tone, push pull function seem to affect the tone. Issues is everything sounds a bit off, almost like there is a tone cut or a wah is being applied to it. Others times I think the coil is split. It doesn't sound as sharp as any of my other guitars. Best way to describe the tone is in clean tone it sounds almost identical to a telecaster. There is no hum or buzzing. I know something in the wiring is screwy. Pots, capacitors and wiring has all been verified.

Thanks in advance!

Re: PAF Joe & Mo Joe Help

Does it sound like the highs are cut out?
Is it muffled sounding?

Re: PAF Joe & Mo Joe Help

You may have the tone cap put in wrong.
Try removing the tone cap and see if it sound better.

Re: PAF Joe & Mo Joe Help

Not sure exactly what the root cause was however I'm good to go now. I ended up completely disassembling everything and reassemble using a new .022uf. Guitar sound killer. Thank you for your feed back Sebastian.

Regards,
Vs
