PAF Joe In USA Strat
Recently I started using my USA strat into a Fender amp with my band, but missed the humbucker sound, so I decided I wanted to put something in that wouldn't be superhigh output, and would have vintage character.
I had a PAF Joe sitting in my pickup box, and figured, Hell, it's a vintage voiced PAF with an EQ slided up towards top end.. This is bound to sound good in the bridge with 250k pots...
I wasn't wrong. This is now quite possibly my favourite bridge pickup sound. Note separation is **** on and every note in a chord is audible. Cleans up beautifully when you roll the volume down, and has great lead. EQ is exactly where I want it for this guitar.
Position 2 with Humbucker and Stock Single still sounds very authentic, maintaing the classic quack (my main worry when installing a humbucker)
All in all, I would be very quick to recommend this to anyone who wants a pickup that is going to respond well to a 250k HSS setup, whilst preserving 50's PAF Tone. - The EQ is still slightly shifted to the top end, but is a great mix with the singles.
