I have a 1998 JS
-1000 with a PAF Pro in the neck.
It is the most phenomenal neck pickup I have ever used!
Tons of clarity, just the right amount of warmth, lots of harmonics, great all around pickup for extremely dirty and clean tones!
I also have a 1989 540R with a JS
It is H, S, S configuration.
I am not very familiar with single coil sized humbuckers, so I went with the suggestions that the Pickup Finder on DiMarzio's website gave me.
The guitar currently has, Pro Track - Neck, Pro Track - Middle, & Tone Zone - bridge.
The Pro Track (in the neck position) sounds nice and warm, without being overly dark, but just doesn't have anywhere near the harmonics or sustain that the PAF Pro has in my other guitar.
It does have lots of sustain and harmonics in the middle position though.
I thought that the Pro Track would sound very similar to the PAF Pro since Joe used it in the neck position of the JS
-2400. It probably sounds great in that guitar since the pickup position is shifted closer to the bridge.
I'm not looking for an exact match, I am looking more for the same type of feel, sustain, easy feedback, and harmonics.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
