Pickup change for a Jem77PMC

Hello, i have a 77PMC that sounds really great with a fat maple neck bigger than all i tried or own and would like to change pickups,
I was curious to hear about Gravity storm or Evo or evo2 and what you have tried with the basswood maple neck combo.
I play in a axe fx 2 mostly rock/metal but like versatile tones

Thanks

Re: Pickup change for a Jem77PMC

Hi Rico. I have evos in my bfp and they sound pretty raw, gritty, and a pretty dirty. I have an evo2 in my Pmc and it sounds a little more cleaned up but still fully capable of getting that meaty sound with OD.

Well...heard great things about GS pups in the bfp reissue. Other 91 bfp owners and others with the Jem maple neck vouch for the GS or Evo2. I prefer the evos in my combo so allow your personal preference to shine. If you're keen to use the axe fx then go GS/Evo2; I personally am a minimalist and the evos give me everything I need between guitar direct to my black star ht5.

I use the GS's in almost all of my maple boarded guitars. The most comparable guitars are the RG550's. I find the GS's to be warmer than most other pickups but they still retain enough high-end to keep pick attack and note separation in tact.

Gravity Storm is my go to bridge pickup for basswood guitars. Liquifire is my preferred neck pickup.

I love the GS set, but I also use Evo2 bridge and Breed Neck on some axes

Breeds are great. That last pickup Steve Lukather did with Dimarzio is good, too.
