Pickup fitting problem

Hi all,

I wanted to change the tone zone/true velvet/air norton combo in my Ibanez RG8570SP to a set of Evos. When I fitted them, it seemed as though everything would be wired the same from the instructions - is this the case? Should the new evos be wired in exactly the same fashion as the original combo?

The problem is it just isn't working! All the connections seem good, solid, but there is no output signal from the guitar. Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Craig

Re: Pickup fitting problem

yes, yes and yes... I had same problem too.
the J custom comes with OTAX switch, right?
After replacing all bridge and neck humbuckers, following the same connection. there is no sound coming. Still a mystery to me why this happened , finally replaced the switch to make it right.

Re: Pickup fitting problem

I'll have to get the switch out and double check but I think it is OTAX yeah... What do you think is the best 5-way-switch to get for a guitar with a set of evos? I understand some are better quality than others.

Re: Pickup fitting problem

Solved! There was a cheeky little white wire that connects the 5-way selector to the volume pot, and it was hiding underneath the switch as if it was soldered on, but it actually wasn't. It must have pulled off when I took the switch out.

Re: Pickup fitting problem

glad you solved it.
I did the old fashioned way, got CRL switch and doing standard 5 way configuration.
