Pickups selection for alder

Hey guys

So I'm looking at replacing the passive Hz emg pickups that
Came in the guitar. It's a Jackson king v with a floyd rose bridge
And an alder body. At the minute I'm using a Marshall valvestate
Vs 100 but I'll probably change it soon.

I play melodic death metal such as edge of sanity, hypocrisy, amon
Amarth, children of bodom and arch enemy. I am particularly impressed
With the guitar tone of dan swano, and amott.

I think i'venarrowed my options down to Dimazio d activators or the
Standard Emg 81/85 combo. However when I emailed dimarzio they
Recommended a d activator/liquifire combo.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers

I've got D-Activators in a 7620 and D-Activator X's in a JP6... I don't think you can go wrong with them, unless you prefer EMG's.

Dominions are fairly new so I haven't tried them yet but sounds like they're good for metal too.

I was leaning towards the D activators, then tech support suggested Dactivator/liquifire.

Gotta agree with LP here--the Dominions are the new kick-butt metal humbuckers!
My new favorite.

Re: Pickups selection for alder

It would be a whole lot easier to choose if there was a good music shop near me, but unfortunately they are hopeless so i can't really try out all the pickups so im having to rely on you tube videos and forum reviews

Listen to the samples on the DiMarzio site.
I'll have clips of the Dominion posted soon.
