Angry Problem with EMG-JH set - bad buzz when touching components

Hi all!

I wired up some new active EMG pickups, and for some reason or another, i dont actually get a sound from the pickups (that i can tell, i dont have strings on yet) but when i touch the ring around the pickup selector switch, I get a REALLY bad buzz.

I do not know what is causing this. Does anyone with more electrical prowess than I have an idea?

Barry

Re: Problem with EMG-JH set - bad buzz when touching components

there are a few things it could be. A common problem with the quick connect is if you flip the connector over on the bottom of the pickups it sounds really fuzzy and low or no output.

Make sure you have your grounds all connected together and your connector hub is wired right.

What are the pickups in? 1 volume or 2 volume or master tone or one for each pickup?

the volume pot connections have to go in a specific order, one from the switch one to the tone and one going out, and that may vary because of how you have it wired.

i installed the het set before and really hate the quick the connect system. It makes for a messy control cavity.

Solved!

Stupid (gibson) guitars reverse their green and black wire for output/grnd.

I was trying to route output from the ground wire.

All fixed!
