RG pickup change - Tele sound?

I have an RG360DX (I think) with Powersound pickups. I know very little about electronics but can't get a pleasing sound out of them and fancy a pickup change.

Thing is, I no shredder, and most of my fave tones are of the Telecaster and jazz persuasions. So I am considering some HB-size P90s, or some single coil adapter mounts. However I don't know what the wiring implications of such ideas are, given a 2-core vs 4-core wiring scenario, or pots etc.

I am also pondering if it would be wiser just to get lowish output PAFs as less dramatic change to avoid digging a big hole for myself.

Obviously it's not worth throwing a lot of money at this level of guitar, BUT the weird thing is the previous owner of this instrument put a £750 Sims custom LED neck on it, with an unusual profile that really really suits me. Hence the obvious solution of swapping for something Fendery isn't on the cards.

Any thoughts welcome!

Andrew

Re: RG pickup change - Tele sound?

i am a huge fan of P rails (Seymour Duncan) they can be a little pricey but they bring a lot of versatility

https://www.seymourduncan.com/pickup/p-rails-set

maybe add a 3way toggle for each humbucker like they have on the artists
or tap?

think about having a rocking humbucker (they are a bit hot but clean up nice with the volume)... p90 and a single coil rail

eh like i said i't just my opinion

Oo, thanks. They look nice. And their recommendation of combining with a Rolling Mill at the bridge doesn't sound like a bad idea.
