Re: rg2ex2 wiring diagram

Two humbuckers and a five way, usually means the 'special' five way switch that allows some single coil positions (usually 2 and 4).

If this is so, you can use this diagram for it.

http://www.ibanez.com/supportResourc...07/RG2620E.pdf

The DiMarzio/ibz p/ups use the same color codes for the leads.

Yes that is the one to use.

Parallel is where the two coils of the humbucker are in parallel mode, not series. It's gives a lower output, almost single coil sound. It is a great tone.

A little fuller sounding than a single coil, to my ears, but single coil-ish.

Nice thing about it; if you play with crazy gain, it's still humbucking.

That's why I said 'almost' single coil.

Not much different, and if you replace the switch this diagram won't work.

You could get a 4 pole multi-switch, but that's a totally different wiring schematic.

I've always just stuck with stock pots, had no problems at all in years of doing this.

Re: rg2ex2 wiring diagram

few more questions about this diagram

basic questions but id rather be right then guess

im assuming the pickup on bottom of chart is bridge and top of chart is neck, is this true?

also, on the bottom pickup it looks as if the black and white wires merge into one, do i just solder them together and connect them to one terminal?

and last but not least, do i place the pickups in the guitar with the wire closest to the wiring hole or does it matter (how do i tell which way to orient placement of the pickups)

Yes--you've got it right!
As far as orientation, people usually mount them with the wires closest to the holes.

Re: rg2ex2 wiring diagram

Does anyone have any tips on how to solder ground wires to the outside of the pots like in shown in the wiring diagram above? Will heating up the shell hurt anything on the inside?
Thanks

It can damage the pot if you don't have a decent soldering iron/gun. You want to use an iron of at least 30 watts...... I use a 40 watter.

if the pots are new, wipe the backs clean with a little vinegar or window cleaner then scrape/sand the area you intend to put solder on. this will make soldering it much easier/faster.

I have 2 irons but both are 25w. I have a gun but it doesn't say how many watts. Are guns too much?
Thanks

Re: rg2ex2 wiring diagram

A 25w one will be ok. Don't use a gun, they can be a bit too hard to use safely.
