so about those 7 stringos

I bought a 7 string guitar, an RG827QMZ.

I don't hate it, but I don't especially love it. I feel like the shallow U neck has been kinda 'upsized' badly and it feels pretty square to my hands (I have also tiny hands too so go figure). I was thinking of cutting my losses and selling the dude on to fund a 6 string strung B to B (would you call that baritone?)... But I'm open to suggestions on 7 string playing philosophy to help me adjust my view on what would otherwise be a pretty nice guitar :>...

For reference, my other 6 stringers are an RG570 (flat c), an ESP horizon 3 (c neck) and the infamous Fender Squier hello kitty fat strat (u /v shape), I really like the way all of these have a steady relief curve towards the fretboard, rather than any softened box like features.

(I'm not a massive fan of the light wood binding...)

I am apprehensive of modding / removing material from the neck.

I am interested in Ibanez S model guitars...

If I keep it I will for sure change the bridge pickup, do not worry.

You won’t play a guitar you do not like. If you are interested in S series guitars the used market is your only option at the moment. This will save you quite a bit of money. There have not been many S series 7 strings overall but the Ibanez S5527 would help you figure out if you want a 7 string pretty fast.

When I was looking for 7 strings originally there were a couple of figured top Ibanez 7 string S series on the market new (I don't remember the numbers), and they got discontinued pretty sharp after I got the 827. The other thing I didn't like was the satin finish on them... I was actually considering just stringing a 6 string b to b for the brunt of 7 string djenting but...

That S looks nice! I was always worried about buying an S though, the last one I tried in a shop had a goofy neck that was kind of square and like a GRG... I hate gio necks >:

Also, I think I might have potato'd and put this thread in the wrong place, if there's a passing mod :>...
