So I just bought a set of Texas Specials off of the bay

The guy said he had them professionally installed and removed and they were not marked so I won't know which pickup goes where when I receive them.

I do know that the specs for each are as follows:

Neck Pickup:
DC Resistance: 6.2K
Inductance: 2.4Henries

Middle Pickup:
DC Resistance: 6.5K
Inductance: 2.6Henries

Bridge Pickup:
DC Resistance: 6.50K - 7.10K
Inductance: 3.58Henries

Can I test the pickups using a standard meter? And if so how? Any help would be appreciated. I have a meter but I'm far from an electrician.

I'd suggest a digital Multimeter
It has instructions and has a Dc resistance tester
It should have a way to check inductance but im not sure

Don't bother with inductance, but measure the DC Resistance with a multimeter. That should help you.

Thanks for the help guys. How do I measure the DC Resistance? Put the meter on DC and one lead to each of the lead wires coming off of the pickup?

i could swear i answered this thread...

the pickups should be color coded on the back.

also, check the lengths of the wires...the shortest in the bridge and the longest is the neck...

Put your multimeter on the 200k ohms setting. place one probe from your multimeter on each lead and check the reading.

They should arrive early next week. If they are color coded then it could be an enormous help but on the other hand the guy said he had them installed and taken out and I probably won't receive the original box and instructions so I won't know what the color coding means unless it just says what position they are, although I could probably email Fender if I can't get ahold of a meter.

Thanks for the tip, I'll definately check that and the wire lengths first.
