viva,
maybe we can help you choose the right ones, or at least setting you on the right direction?

if you play either pop & heavy, i would put a PAF Pro: it's a very balanced pickup, not too heavy, not too trebly, creamy enough and very versatile.
Evos sound too trebly to my ears.

I must interject here and say that the PAF Pro is a terrible pickup. Compared to the Evolution it sounds like chewed bubble gum and has the pick response of a wet sponge. Someone to recommend that pickup has questionable tastes.

And since you can't arbitrate "taste"....

ALOT of people love their PAF PROS. Period.

Between this and your next post -"Besides, what you pointed out in regards to EMG pickups would be obvious to anyone who is not mentally retarted." I think you should take a chill pill or attitude correction. Jumping in this forum and getting combative and insulting is going to wear your welcome thin, fast. Post with respect or go play in Harmony Central.

Nah, but when a newbie starts off with an attitude it needs to be checked at the door, and they need to know that. If in doubt, memorize the Forum Rules.

I owned a 90HAM for 4 years (made in '9 and loved it. I now own a VBK customed into a GMC, made in 89 and love it too. If I want more treble, I turn up my EQ. If I want more harshness like the EVOs I just fiddle with my Guitar Port.

I will say that the EVOs are more powerful than the PAF, but not by much if you've got a decent amp / cab combo that is versatile. Plus, I can much more easily reach my favorite tones, which happen to be more like Vai's PAW stuff, made mostly with PAFs.

Its awfully hard to beat PAW with a stick, let alone a very big howitzer. PAFs seemed to work fine on that album.

hey men, I love paf's tone. the older the better i should say because you've got the 'feel of the pickup' in my words.
