Sound Clips on Dimarzio.com

I'm trying to decide what pickups to replace my V7-S1-V8.

Right now, I'm sticking to Super Distortion Bridge - <something> - Super 2 neck, simply because I want the outputs to be similar. I know these selections are all up to personal choice, so I'm not asking for your opinions on that (though they are welcome anyway). I've done a search and have seen the various choices (TZs and EVOs being very popular).

Now, my real question is about the sound samples on the Dimarzio website. What really can I do with those? The clips are beautiful to listen to, as expected, but then I cannot really say "that sounds like a Tone Zone" as these guys put their guitars through miles of effects, or at least into some sort of processor, in such a way that the resulting sound is "theirs" rather than that of the pickup. I'm not saying that Dimarzio is screwing the cusomers, as I think its great what they're doing.

But, I would really like to hear the pickups in a standard "clean" and maybe "distorted" (hah! and my argument falls apart - how does one define a standard distortion) way.

Would jemsite host such sound clips? Just a few single notes (say a scale) and chords per pickup per body wood, per position?

That's a fine idea, IMO.

I wouldn't expect jemsite to do it though, that might be timely to get organized, and possibly expensive to host....

But It'd be damn cool, and make jemsite more complete.

Yeah i had the same problem. I was after some clips of The TZ and Evo and although the sound clips can give you an idea of what they will sound like, effects, guitars and playing styles may cloud the actual sound.
I also find it annoying that some places when giveing say amp demos use differnt guitars etc for the takes, this kinda thing gets on my pip as it would be much easier to use one guitar through everything, similarly with pickups.

U know what, go to guitar shop, try the rg3120 for the tonezone, and the Jem7V for the Evo!

Wish there were a Virtual Pickup, that we could "play around" with on the net. TYrying different string gauges, guitarmaterial, windings e.t.c

That would have been great

It would be great if, for example, that Kiseake guitar design site could have a "this guitar would sound like this..." section.

Now that would be a challenge.
