Spacing of the Seymour Duncan is wrong?

Hey guys,

Recently I've fitted my Dean V with the usual SH4/SH2 combo, but the pole pieces don't align very well. The spacing is too wide for the neck and too small for the bridge. I have the gold covered pickups. Does any one of you have the same problem?

What kind of bridge? If you have a Floyd you need F-spaced pups.

It is a fixed bridge, and there is not even a trembucker version of the SH2.

Re: Spacing of the Seymour Duncan is wrong?

That sounds like a string spacing choice by Dean for that model rather than a problem with the Seymour Duncan pole spacing.

are you positive you don't have the pickups switched by chance? Sounds like the bridge pickup should be f-spaced and the neck should be regular-spaced. I had the same issue with my SZ720, which is also a fixed bridge.

Wait you got the bridge version of the Jazz for the neck position.

They are not switched, because they were put in on a different day. It's not that bad for the bridge pickup, but the neck pickup has the low E pole piece positioned right, and the high E almost all the way off.

No, I am 100% sure I have the neck version. It said on the package, so I believe it.

What bridge is it? Just because its fixed doesn't mean its not F-Spaced.

It's a normal Tune-O-Matic, but the problem is that the pole pieces are too far from eachother, not too close.

Re: Spacing of the Seymour Duncan is wrong?

Modern tuneomatics are closer to F spaced, that may be the issue.

Which Dean V model is it? I'd be interested to see the specs on the neck width from high E to low E.

That might be, but the bridge pickup isn't that much of a problem. The neck pickup is what bothers me, even if it is purely cosmetics. And the polepieces are too far apart, not too close together.

It is the V79 White Gold, which should have the exact same specifications as a Gibson, spacing wise.
